Reports have suggested that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is willing to offer free agent Santiago Arias an Old Trafford deal.
The Lowdown: Arias links
Arias, labelled as ‘very complete’ by former Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz, has been linked with a move to Manchester in recent days.
One journalist even said that the 30-year-old ‘has his bags ready to move to Manchester United’ after leaving Atletico Madrid over the summer.
The Colombia international actually shares the same agency as Ten Hag, and it looks as if the United boss would be open to a potential move.
The Latest: Transfer update
Colombian outlet El Deportivo relayed an update regarding Arias and United on Monday.
They claim that Ten Hag is indeed willing to welcome the right-back at Old Trafford to provide competition to Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Verdict: Why not…
Arias has plenty of experience at the highest level for both club and country and is still only 30, so it could be a wise move to offer the free agent a short-term contract.
Ten Hag would be limited at right-back, should Dalot or Wan-Bissaka suffer an injury, and with plenty of football to be played in a number of competitions, Arias could be a smart addition.
The United manager will know all about Arias following the latter’s time at PSV, and reports have hinted that his style of play could suit what Ten Hag is looking to implement in Manchester.
