With Andre Onana out representing Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations, summer signing Bayindir is set to make his Red Devils debut this weekend when they travel to League Two side Newport in round four of the FA Cup. And manager Ten Hag has high hopes for the former Fenerbahce man.

The United boss told reporters: "Yeah, he [Bayindir] will be in the goal. I think it is clear what we can expect from him. He waits for his chances but he is experienced. He played for a big club in Turkey where there is big pressure.
"He knows how to deal with it and we were all very convinced when we brought him into this club. That is not a decision for just one man. We are looking forward to Sunday. Altay is very motivated, of course, and he can't wait for this moment. Now, this is his moment."

Onana, who was surprisingly benched for Cameroon's 3-2 win over The Gambia, signed for United in an initial fee of £44m ($57m) but so far he has not lived up to that hefty price tag. The former Inter Milan star has struggled between the sticks at times so if Bayindir can shine in the 27-year-old's absence, he could be in contention for the number one jersey.
WHAT NEXT?
Onana could return from AFCON in the next few days if Cameroon lose to Nigeria in the last 16 of the competition on Saturday night. If they make it to the final, which is on February 11, the keeper could miss four games for United, giving Bayindir a chance to shine.
